HYDERABAD, JUNE 9. The City Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has appealed to the Mayor, T. Krishna Reddy, to introduce and pass a resolution recommending reopening of the slaughterhouses that were shut down last year as per court orders in the next general council meeting scheduled for June 17. In a press release here on Wednesday, P.S.N. Murthy, secretary, said that though the court had ordered closure, it said that the old slaughterhouses located at Ziaguda, Gowlipura, Amberpet, Bhoiguda and Ramnaspura could be opened if they were modernised and made pollution-free. The CPI leader said that several families depending on the trade were suffering on account of closure and the modern slaughterhouse at Chengicherla cannot sustain small traders.
