Iran Consul-General's plea for direct flights

HYDERABAD,
JUNE 9.
The Consul-General of Iran in Hyderabad, Agha Hussain Raavish, on Wednesday called for introduction of direct flights between Iran and Hyderabad in view of the increase in bilateral activities on various fronts, including trade.
He was speaking at an informal meeting of Iranian journalists with the editors of local Urdu dailies here, according to a press release.
The Information and Public Relations Minister, Mohd. Shabbir Ali, assured to take up the matter with the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He underlined the need for strengthening trade and tourism activities between both the countries.
He said about 5,000 Iranians had made Hyderabad their home. Echoing a similar sentiment, the Iranian journalist, Amir Mohabbian, said that Iranians were at home in India and the atmosphere and culture of both the countries was strikingly similar.
