Spell of rain likely

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and a minimum of 19.5 degrees Celsius. The rainfall was 3.4 mm., and the relative humidity was 82 per cent.

At the airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 27.8 degrees Celsius and 19.2 degrees Celsius respectively. The rainfall was 3.2 mm., and the relative humidity was 79 per cent.

The forecast for Thursday is that the sky will be generally cloudy. Strong surface wind and a spell of rain towards evening are likely.

Seminar

Contest

Karuna Animal Welfare Association of Karnataka will organise an essay-writing competition for high school students on June 29 at 2 p.m. The competition will be held at the Vijaya Ranga Mandira auditorium, Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park. The essays should be written in English, Kannada, or Hindi. Interested schools can send two students to participate in the competition in each language. Hostel

The Brahmana Vidyarthi Sahaya Sangha will provide free hostel facility (lodging only) for poor Brahmin students studying in high schools, colleges, training institutes, and professional institutions. Iyengar Street, Seshadripuram, Bangalore - 560020, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The last date for submitting applications is June 20.

Meditation

The Institute for Sri Ramchandra Consciousness (ISRC) will organise a training programme in "Pranahuti aided meditation" on June 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on its premises at Cox Town. Festival

The Karnataka Nrithyakala Parishat will organise its annual festival, "Ankura 2004", from July 3 to 6 at Yavanika on Nrupathunga Road. The festival comprises Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Mohiniattam and Odissi performances. The festival is for dancers aged between 18 and 25 who have completed "Ranga Pravesha" and two performances or have passed the senior/vidwat examination in dance.
