Ban on inter-district transfers may go
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
JUNE 10.
The State Government is examining a proposal to lift the ban imposed by the erstwhile TDP regime on inter-district transfer of employees.
The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, to examine the proposal following a representation made jointly by the employee unions earlier this week.
A delegation of the TNGOs union, the APNGOs union and other leaders of the Joint Action Committee urged Dr. Reddy to lift the ban. Lifting the ban on transfers would benefit thousands of employees since this was a long pending demand of the unions to mitigate the hardships faced by the staff. The ban on inter-district transfers has been in force almost ever since the TDP Government came to power a decade ago though it was relaxed off and on.
Official sources said the Government was favourably inclined to the employees since it would also help in streamlining the administration in a large number of departments.
