Three held; fake lubricants seized

Sleuths of the East Zone Task Force team, on Wednesday nabbed three persons who were allegedly manufacturing and selling duplicate lubricant oils using the brand names of reputed companies. The police seized spurious oil and manufacturing material worth Rs. 4 lakhs.

The arrested were: Satyanarayana Agarwal, Shiv Kumar Agarwal of Malakpet and C. Somnath of Afzalgunj.

Based on the information received from officials of Castrol India Limited, Chennai, the police raided two shops at Malakpet and Afzalgunj and seized the material. Another accused, Neelesh Agarwal, is at large.

The accused, along with the seized property, were handed over to the police stations concerned for further investigation, a press release said.

Woman found murdered

An unidentified woman aged about 35 years was found murdered at an isolated place near Taramathipeta village in Hayathnagar police station area on Thursday. The victim was clad in black sari and brown blouse. Villagers told the police that the woman came there along with two men last night. The trio reportedly consumed toddy. The police were yet to confirm if the woman was sexually assaulted.

Body found

A youth, Vishun Kumar (20), who was missing from Wednesday morning, was found dead in the Hussain Sagar on Thursday.

The Ramgopalpet police suspect that the victim committed suicide, as he was dejected over failure in Intermediate examination.

Fatally knocked down

A 70-year-old woman, Susheelamma, was killed on Wednesday when a scooter knocked her down while she was crossing the road near Kukatpally bus stop. A resident of KPHB Colony, she was a retired employee of Yousufguda State Children Home.

Succumbs to injuries

A 50-year-old man, M. Lothapa, who was hit by a vehicle while he was walking across the road at Suchitranagar in Kukatpally on June 8, succumbed to the injuries on Wednesday at the Gandhi hospital.

The victim was a resident of Sitaramanagar, the Kukatpally police said.

Two held

Two persons -- Pratap (25) and Ravinder Devaraj Pillai (38) -- who allegedly attempted to kill a constable of Ramgopalpet police station, Y. Venkat Rao, on June 4 when the latter was on patrolling duty, were arrested on Thursday.

The arrested, along with two others, were moving under suspicious circumstances near the Ranigunj bus depot on June 4 night, a press release said.
