CHENNAI, JUNE 10. Jewels weighing 125 sovereigns were stolen from the house of a former government official on Wasan Street at T. Nagar on Monday. Burglars broke open the kitchen window and gained entry into the house of P. Murahari, when the inmates were away. Lalithakumari, an inmate, said she left the house around 4.30 p.m. "I had gone out for shopping with my daughter, and when I returned around 10 p.m., the kitchen window was found broken," she said. The almirah was found broken into and clothes strewn on the floor. The Joint Commissioner of Police (South), J. K. Tripathi, visited the scene of crime today. He said an early breakthrough was expected, as some fingerprints had been lifted and the police had received some more clues.
