NHPC net profit up
NEW DELHI: The public sector National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has achieved a profit after tax of Rs. 621.38 crores for 2003-04 against Rs. 510.50 crores in the previous year. The increase works out to over 22 per cent. Consequently, the NHPC board has recommended a dividend of Rs. 60 crores in addition to the interim dividend of Rs. 60 crores already paid in March. Sales of the corporation have also gone up to Rs. 1,414 crores from Rs. 1,325 crores, registering an increase of 7 per cent. The corporation has been able to reduce its interest outgo to the extent of Rs. 47 crores. Moreover, the debt:equity ratio has been brought down from 0.52 during 2003-04 from 0.68 in the previous year.
