THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 11. The Federation of Residents Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has moved the Lok Ayukta against the Kerala State Electricity Board for the installation of electronic meters. The case filed by the FRAT zonal president, A. Gopakumar, pointed out that the electronic meters had burdened consumers with inflated bills up to 10 times the previous rate. Alleging irregularities and corruption in the arbitrary decision by the Board to install electronic meters without informing consumers, the petition said that the KSEB had purchased substandard meters. The petition also appealed to the Lok Ayukta to direct the KSEB to return the excess amount collected from consumers. FRAT has also decided to launch an agitation against the KSEB to protest against the installation of electronic meters.
