MADURAI, JUNE 11. The Collector, D. Raajendiran, today administered a pledge against child labour, on the occasion of the the World Day against Child Labour, to officials at the Collectorate here. The District Revenue Officer, K. Ayyanar, the Personal Assistant to Collector, S. Periasamy, and others participated. At the Corporation office, the Mayor, C. Ramachandran, administered the pledge to the Corporation officials and councillors. The Commissioner, A. Karthik, was present. The Tamil Nadu Food Grains Merchants' Association today resolved not to employ child labourers in its member establishments. In a statement, its secretary, V. Dhanasekaran, said the resolution was adopted, assuring support to the Centre and the State Government and NGOs in the eradication of child labour.
