HYDERABAD, JUNE 12. The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., (BHEL) here signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the oil major, Oil India Ltd., on Saturday for refurbishment and up-gradation of the latter's land rigs. The MoU, according to a BHEL release, is expected to bring in business worth Rs. 100 crores for BHEL from Oil India Ltd. The agreement signed by the BHEL Executive Director, B. Ramachandra Rao, and the Oil India General Manager (Service Business), M. Bhandari, will require BHEL to refurbish, repair and upgrade the land drilling rigs of Oil India Ltd., for a period of three years. Most of the rigs, incidentally, are of BHEL make. The release added that the MoU would enable Oil India to accelerate their exploration and drilling activity in logistically difficult areas in upper Assam.
