Cloudy sky forecast

Cloudy sky is forecast for the city on Sunday. One or two spells of rain likely. The maximum temperature recorded in the city on Saturday was 31degree Celsius, minimum temperature 23 degree Celsius, humidity 60 per cent and rainfall was traced.

Exchange of soiled notes

The Indian Bank will hold special counters for exchange of soiled and defective currency notes at its branch on June 13 and 20 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. for the convenience of the people, according to a press release.

Diabetic camp

A free diabetic camp and exhibition is being conducted by the Institute of Nature Cure at Plot No.307, Road No. 10C, MLAs, MP Colony, Gayatri Hills, Jubilee Hills, on Sunday from 10 a.m. onwards. Interested persons can contact on 23552402,23546468.

Diploma course in Urdu

The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language is offering one-year diploma course in Urdu language.

Age and qualification are no bar for admission into the course which will impart the language from basic fundamentals. After successful completion of the course candidates will get certificate from NCPUL, Government of India. Last date for submission of forms is June 25. Anniversary observed

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Linguistic Minority Cell observed the 5th death anniversary of former Chief Minister, J. Vengal Rao, on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan. Ashok Singh, chairman of the Linguistic Minority Cell, garlanded the portrait of Vengal Rao and paid rich tributes to him.

Thakur Hari Prasad, president, Thakur Hari Prasad Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Mentally Handicapped, has been invited by Rehabilitation International to chair the 20th world congress session on "Disrupted lives of disabled persons" and to make a presentation on community participative rehabilitation being practiced by THPI.

Christians thank CM

The All India United Christians Movement for Equal Rights (AIUCMER) has thanked the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, for his assurance to end discrimination against all, including Dalit Christians on the basis of religion.

In a statement, Jose Daniel, president, and Christine Lazarus, vice-president, AIUCMER, said Dr. Reddy as an MP had supported the demand to extend reservation facilities to Dalit Christians.

Meanwhile, the State unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has criticised the minorities appeasement policy of the new Congress Government. In this regard, the organisation in a press release took exception to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's assurance to consider conferring the status of SCs on Dalit Christians. The church rule as in Nagaland would not be allowed in the State, it said.
