This Day That Age
Mr. C. D. Deshmukh, Union Finance Minister, stated in Trivandrum on June 12 at a reception accorded to him and Mrs. Durgabai Deshmukh by the Corporation of Trivandrum that besides finding the resources for the Five-Year Plan from borrowings and voluntary savings of the people, he felt no compunction in accepting assistance offered by friendly nations, if that could be received without damage to India's self-respect and dignity. There were international agencies, like the IMF, which were interested in the development of countries like India and there were member-countries of the Commonwealth which were prepared to assist for reasons not political.
