Resume wage talks, transport staff urge Govt.
By Our Special Correspondent
TIRUCHI,
JUNE 13.
The Tamil Nadu Arasu Pokkuvarathu Kazhagangalin Thozhilalar Sammelanam, affiliated to the AITUC, urged the State Government to take steps for resumption of wage negotiations for transport workers immediately.
A resolution adopted at a meeting held here today said the wage revision was pending for over two-and-a-half years.
Another resolution said following the government's decision to suspend pension to the staff with effect from April 1, 2003, over 2,500 former employees have been put to hardship.
It urged the government to withdraw cases registered against the transport corporation employees who had participated in last year's strike. Other resolutions demanded restoration of all benefits, withdrawing the TESMA and ESMA Acts etc.
