INSAT picture at 11.30 hrs. Observations recorded at 8-30 a.m. on June 13
CHENNAI, JUNE 13. Yesterday's deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards to northwest Bay of Bengal and is crossing south Orissa coast close to Puri at 830 hours IST today. It is likely to move inland in a northwesterly direction and weaken gradually. Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Kerala. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka, at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalaseema. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in cm: Valparai 19, Paderu (Visakhapatnam dt.) 16, Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris dt.) 14, Tekkali (Srikakulam dt.) 13, Kalingapatnam 11, Elamanchili (Visakhapatnam dt.) and Tuni 9 each, Napoklu (Kodagu dt.) 8, Agumbe and Medikeri 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are: Kakinada, Dowleswaram (East Godavari dt.), Kollam, Mudibedre (Udupi dt.) and Madapura (Kodagu dt.) 6 each, Visakhapatnam Airport, Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam dt.) and Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.) 5 each, Visakhapatnam, Kozhikode Airport and Karkala (Udupi dt.) 4 each, Kozhikode, Cannur and Sirsi (Uttara Kannada dt.) 3 each, Kanyakumari, Udhagamandalam, Narasapur, Kaikalur (Krishna dt.) CIAL Kochi, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram Airport, Shirali and Shimoga 2 each and Cheranmadevi (Tirunelveli dt.), Hosur (Krishnagiri dt.), Machilipatnam, Ganavaram Kochi Airport, Aluva (Ernakulam dt.), Agathi Airport, Minicoy, Karwar, Mangalore Airport 1 each. FORECAST (Valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over north interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
