ZP chief vows to strive for welfare of BCs

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH, JUNE 13. The State Government is keen on uplifting the backward classes, asserted the Cuddapah Zilla Parishad chairman, K. Suresh Babu, on Sunday.

Addressing a public meeting at Pathacuddapah panchayat in Cuddapah mandal, as part of `Rajiv Palle Baata' launch, the ZP chief charged the TDP Government with neglecting farmers and backward classes in its nine-year rule.

The Government was committed to the welfare of the downtrodden and weaker sections and minorities, he said. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was determined to complete the pending irrigation projects in Cuddapah district in two years, Mr. Babu said. The Government was also striving to provide irrigation water for two crops under the KC Canal, he said. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy granted free power supply and waived power dues of farmers fulfilling his pre-poll promises.

The chairman announced that Pathacuddapah was sanctioned a dhobhighat and assured to provide a playground to the ZP high school. The Cuddapah MLA, Md. Ahmedullah, said proposals to develop the Pathacuddapah tank at a cost of Rs. 1 crore had been forwarded. Other developmental works in the panchayat were included in the district master plan, he added.
