CUDDAPAH, JUNE 13. The Lakkireddipalle MLA, G. Mohan Reddy, on Sunday sought the cooperation of one and all for eradicating child labour and enrolling child labourers in schools. Addressing a meeting on `Padandi badiki, pillalapai pani bharam vaddu' (go to school, don't burden children with work) programme in Sri Venkateswara School at Ramapuram mandal headquarters organised by an NGO, M.V. Foundation, Mr. Reddy called upon voluntary organisations and teachers to take special interest in identifying child labourers and enrolling them in schools. The Assistant Project Director of Velugu, Anil Kumar Reddy, said the Velugu officials were striving to eradicate child labour. The headmaster of a school in Saraswathipalle, Viswanatha Reddy, lauded the foundation for its efforts. The Hasanapuram sarpanch, Maheswara Reddy, said child labourers were rampant in Lakkireddipalle constituency, which was backward in all aspects. The MLA and the district coordinator of the foundation, Yadaiah, distributed books and pens to children.
Rally
The foundation organised a rally with about 300 children against child labour in Chakrayapet, which was flagged off by the Chakrayapet ZPTC member, Radhakrishnaiah. The MRO, Gangulu, said no child in villages should remain illiterate. The MPTC member, Chalapathi, and the foundation's mandal in-charges -- Brahmachari and Vasantha Geetha -- also spoke.
