A stickler for punctuality
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JUNE 13.
A stickler for time when it comes to eating, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, sprang a surprise by settling down for lunch by the roadside during his `Rajiv Palle Bata' programme in Ranga Reddy district on Sunday.
At 1.15 p.m., Dr. Reddy stopped his vehicle just past Nagarguda crossroads near Chevella and quickly took his lunch, even as hundreds of people eyed him. A mat was laid out on the grass for him and he had it in the company of a couple of Congress leaders, including the local MLA, P. Sabita Indra Reddy.
Dr. Reddy spoke to the media after lunch. He said that though the administrative machinery took care of people's needs, it was also the responsibility of the political leadership to go to the public and hear their grievances. He said though he would be visiting villages twice a week as part of the programme, he would still have five days to attend to administrative work.
