VHP clarification

HYDERABAD, JUNE 13. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today claimed there were no Dalits among Christians and that Dalits were neglected and oppressed people belonging to "various Hindu religions."

In a clarification, the VHP secretary, G. Satyam, said that his statement on June 12 opposing the status of Dalits or Scheduled Castes on Christians did not contain the phrase "Dalit Christians" as published in these columns on Sunday. "The expression Dalit Christians is meaningless," he said.
