JAIPUR, JUNE 13. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, has assured that a permanent solution to the problem of scarcity of drinking water in Jodhpur would be evolved by the year-end with an increase in the water supply capacity in the second largest city in the State. Addressing a gathering in Jodhpur after launching the local edition of a Hindi daily on Saturday, Ms. Raje said the work had been initiated for augmenting the capacity under the Asian Development Bank-assisted urban infrastructure development project. As many as 22 high reservoirs would be constructed in the city along with the laying of pipelines and installation of a water treatment plant by December this year, said Ms. Raje. This would fulfil the demand being raised by the public and elected representatives in the region since long. The Chief Minister affirmed that the daily water supply would be ensured in the town after completion of these works and the current scenario, with water being supplied to households only once in 48 hours, would improve.
