Partly cloudy sky again

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE The first working day of the new week is likely to begin on a pleasant note for Delhiites as the weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or thundery developments accompanied with squalls in some areas which would keep the maximum temperature under check and at around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday at Safdarjung was 39 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 28 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature was 38.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 28 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam, was 68 per cent and 69 per cent respectively while the minimum humidity was 40 per cent and 39 per cent respectively.

Suicide

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE A 16-year-old girl, who was unable to clear her Class X examinations for the third consecutive time this year, allegedly hanged herself to death at her Nandnagri residence in North-East Delhi today.

The incident apparently occurred around 1-30 p.m. when Sonia, daughter of Satvir Singh, was alone at home as her mother had gone out to buy vegetables. When her mother returned, she found Sonia hanging from the ceiling. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Enquiries revealed that Sonia was suffering from acute depression for the past several days, as she had failed in the Xth examinations for the third time this year. She had appeared for the exams through an open school. Inquest proceedings have been initiated into the matter.

Labourer killed

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE A 32-year-old labourer was killed after the pillar of an under construction building collapsed on him at Patparganj in East Delhi today. The incident occurred in the afternoon when Mohar Singh, a resident of Vinod Nagar, was at work in the under construction building. He was rushed to a private nursing home where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Woman dead

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE An 18-year-old woman's body was today brought by her mother-in-law to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with ligature marks around the neck. As the investigations into the case were still on, the police were yet to decide whether it was a case of murder or suicide.

According to the police, they received a call from the AIIMS informing that the body of a woman, identified as Ravi Kumari Gudia, bearing ligature marks around her neck had been brought to the hospital.

Thieves held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE Two alleged auto-lifters were arrested while they were travelling in a stolen Maruti 800 at Mianwali Nagar in West Delhi on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Chetan Yadav (17) and Lakshman (17). The car recovered from them was found stolen from Najafgarh in South-West Delhi.

Arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE A 22-year-old man, who was allegedly involved in cases of chain snatching and robbery, was arrested at Paschim Vihar in West Delhi on Saturday. A knife was recovered from his possession. According to the police, the accused, Shadab, was arrested by a team conducting routine checks in a DDA Park at Paschim Vihar. At his instance, the police recovered a stolen television and a mobile phone stolen from Sultanpuri.

Burglary

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JUNE 13.JUNE 13.JUNE Some miscreants burgled a Government-run liquor shop after overpowering two security guards and stole Rs. 2.68 lakhs from its cash-box at Mehrauli in South Delhi today. This morning, the police received a call that some people broke into the liquor shop located in the Aaya Nagar area of Mehrauli, took the cash kept in its cash-box and fled from the scene.
