Sabarimala temple opens

PATHANAMTHITTA, JUNE 14. The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple opened this afternoon for the five-day poojas in the Malayalam month of Mithunam that begins tomorrow.

The rituals will begin with a Ganapthi Homam in the morning. The thantri, Kantaru Rajeevaru, told The Hindu that a Kalabhabhishekom would be performed on June 17 and 19.

He said that a Laksharchana and a Sahasrakalasam would be performed at the Sannidhanam on June 18 and 19.

The Udayasthamana pooja and Padipooja will be performed at the temple on all the five days.

The temple will close after the Athazha pooja on June 19.
