PONDICHERRY, JUNE 14. The Pondicherry Administration has formed a four-member committee under the chairmanship of the Additional District Magistrate of Pondicherry, G Ragesh Chandra, to prepare a report on the takeover of the Swadeshi Cotton Mills and Bharathi Mills. In an informal chat with mediapersons today, the Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, said the other members of the committee include B. R. Babu, Managing Director of Pondicherry Textiles Corporation (running the government-sponsored AFT mill), P. S. Krishnamoorthy, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories and M. Sreedharan, Director of Planning and Research, Pondicherry Administration. He said the Government was keen that the Swadeshi Cotton Mills should continue to function without facing closure. The two mills Swadeshi and Bharathi mills are now under the control of the National Textiles Corporation. The experts committee has been asked to submit its report in two weeks, Mr. Rangasamy said.
