Reduction in centage to TWAD Board opposed

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI, JUNE 14. The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board Ministerial Staff Association is opposing reduction of `Centage' (commission given to the board for implementing water projects) from 18.5 to 13 per cent (of the total cost).

A general body meeting here on Saturday said the reduction affected the board's revenue. The government should either increase the centage or enhance the number of works undertaken by the TWAD Board.

The government should not consider it a `sick' organisation. A resolution blamed the Board for "being partial" in awarding promotions and demanded that it adopt a uniform approach.

The general body empowered the general secretary to decide on a "warpath," in consultation with the executive committee, if the association's demands were not met.

Expedition of the Andipatti-Sedapatti combined drinking water project and an increase in dearness allowance for all Board employees, immediately after the announcement was made, were among its other demands.
