CHENNAI, JUNE 14. All four nominees of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) including T.T.V. Dinakaran, nephew of Sasiskalaa (close friend of Chief Minister and party general secretary, Jayalalithaa) and organising secretary, today filed their papers for the June 28 Rajya Sabha poll. The others who submitted their papers to the Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer, V. Rajaraman, are the former Home Secretary and former State Election Commissioner, K. Malaisamy, the Namakkal district secretary, S. Anbazhagan, and the Ammapet block secretary, N.R. Govindarajar. They arrived at the Secretariat around 12.30 p.m. Apart from filing the papers, the candidates submitted affidavits on their movable and immovable property, their educational qualification, etc., as laid down by the Election Commission. They took an oath and signed the nomination papers. They received the blessings of Ms. Jayalalithaa shortly after filing the nominations, party sources said. Mr. Rajaraman said the nomination of every AIADMK candidate was proposed by 10 legislators including three Ministers. Mr. Dinakaran's nomination was proposed by the Minister for Public Works, O. Paneerselvam; the Health Minister, N. Thalavai Sundaram; the Rural Industries Minister, K. Pandurangan, and seven MLAs. The Finance Minister, C. Ponnaiyan; the Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, C. Karuppasamy, and the Minister for Forests and Environment, R. Vaithilingam, were among those who proposed the candidature of Mr. Anbazhagan. The Law Minister, D. Jayakumar; the Transport Minister, R. Viswanathan, and the Labour Minister, C.Ve. Shanmugam, along with seven MLAs, proposed the nomination of Mr. Malaisamy. Mr. Govindarajar's nomination was proposed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Minister, P.C. Ramasamy; the Industries Minister, Nainar Nagendran, the Handlooms Minister, V. Somasundaram, and seven MLAs. June 17 is the last date for filing of nominations and the scrutiny will be done the next day. According to Mr. Rajaraman, withdrawal, if any, can be made till 3 p.m. on June 21 and if more than six candidates are in the fray, elections will be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on June 28. The election process will be over by June 30. Shortly after filing his nomination, Mr. Malaisamy told reporters that though the AIADMK had no representation in the Lok Sabha now, the party would be able to ``easily compensate the loss by the excellent performance of its members in the Rajya Sabha'' as the AIADMK was the third largest party in the House. Asked whether the AIADMK MPs would coordinate with their counterparts in the Democratic progressive Alliance on the Cauvery issue, he said Ms. Jayalalithaa had given a clear guideline to them on the stand to be taken on issues of Tamil Nadu's interests. On the Cauvery tangle, she had already presented the State's case along with enough evidence to the Centre, he pointed out.
