Rest of the World triumphs

MOSCOW, JUNE 15. Former World champion Viswanathan Anand drew his final round game with World No. 1 Garry Kasparov ensuring victory for the Rest of the World team against Armenia here o Tuesday. Anand completed the event with two wins, a lone defeat to Leko and three draws.

The results (Rest of the World bt Armenia 18.5-17.5) Sixth round: Viswanathan Anand drew with Garry Kasparov; Michael Adams lost to Rafael Vaganian; Francisco Vallejo Pons drew with Peter Leko; Peter Svidler drew with Vladimir Akopian; Loek van Wely drew with Smbat Lputian; Etienne Bacrot drew with Boris Gelfand.

Fifth round: Svidler drew with Kasparov; Anand lost to Leko; Bacrot drew with Akopian; Vallejo Pons lost to Lputian; Adams drew with Gelfand; Van Wely drew with Vaganian. — PTI
