By Our Staff Reporter
ALAPPUZHA, JUNE 15. The Alappuzha District Collector, K. M. Ramanandan, has asked officials to strictly implement the ban on trawling announced by the State Government. At a meeting convened at the Collectorate here, Dr. Ramanandan said all types of trawling would be banned during the period of ban. Boats fitted with inboard engines would not be allowed to catch fish using trawl nets, he said. A control room had been opened in the fisheries deputy director office, he said. The Collector warned that cases would be charged against those who found violating the trawling ban. The marine enforcement wing of the police had been given the responsibility of implementing the ban. The fisheries deputy director would coordinate the work of various departments connected with the trawling ban, the Collector said.
