Kashyap, Nehawal dominate

HYDERABAD, JUNE 15. P. Kashyap and Saina Nehawal, both from Lal Bahadur Stadium, bagged a double each in the second Yonex-SAAP junior (under-19) badminton tournament organised by the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Players Welfare Association at Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

Kashyap won the boys' singles title defeating N. Srujan of Tirupati 15-5, 15-3 and later combined with Piyush Agarwal to bag the doubles title beating Ch. Suresh and Anil Kumar of Khammam 15-8, 12-15, 15-10.

In the girls' section, Saina Nehawal outplayed her doubles partner Cynthia Rodrigues 11-1, 11-2 and later partnered Cynthia to take the doubles title by default when rivals J. Sarada Govardhini and N. Nivedita conceded a walk-over.

The results: Boys: Singles: final: P. Kashyap (LBS) bt N. Srujan (Tpt) 15-5, 15-3.

Semifinals: P. Kashyap (LBS) bt R.M.V. Guru Sai Dutt (LBS) 15-4, 15-4; N. Srujan (Tpt) bt Md. Siyadathullah (LBS) 15-6, 15-12.

Doubles: Final: P. Kashyap/Piyush Agarwal (LBS) bt Ch. Suresh/Anil Kumar (Khm) 15-8, 12-15, 15-10. Semifinals: P. Kashyap/Piyush Agarwal (LBS) bt N. Srujan/N. Arun (Tpt) 12-15, 15-6, 15-10; Anil Kumar/Ch. Suresh (Khm) bt Siyadatullah Khan/Abhiram (LBS) 9-15, 15-2, 17-14.

Girls: Singles: Final: Saina Nehawal (LBS) bt Cynthia Rodrigues (LBS) 11-1, 11-2.

Semifinals: Saina Nehawal (LBS) bt J. Shruthi (LBS) 11-0, 11-1; Cynthia Rodrigues (LBS) bt J. Sarada (LBS) 8-11, 11-7, 11-9.
