VISAKHAPATNAM, JUNE 15. The inter-zone all-India junior (under-19) women's cricket tournament for the Chandra Tripathi memorial trophy will be held here from June 17 to 21. The District Women's Cricket Association (DWCA), Visakhapatnam, is organising the tournament for the second time. It conducted the second edition of the tournament in 1992. The limited-over round-robin tournament will see some internationals like Diana David, Mamata Tanuja, Karuna Jain (South Zone), Julan and Rumaili (East Zone) in action, informed P. Sharda and Srinivas Malladi, president and secretary of the DWCA, and Baba Rocque, vice-president of the Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI), at a press conference here on Tuesday. The tournament was not held last year and in the previous year, North and West zones were the winner and the runner-up. This year South, with its players having shown good performance in the series against New Zealand, is confident of winning its maiden title. The main sponsor of the tournament is the Esskay Shipping while the co-sponsors are the Vanilla Coke, the Vikas educational institutions and the SBI.
