Tata Power challenges MERC order
MUMBAI,
JUNE 15.
Tata Power Company today moved the Bombay High Court challenging an order of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission for refund of standby charges of Rs. 322 crores to Reliance Energy Ltd.
The TPC alleged that the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), on whose advise the State electricity regulator had ordered the Tata group company to pay Rs. 322 crores as excess standby charges, was biased towards REL and had provided consultancy services to REL for a consideration of estimated Rs. 55 lakhs. The matter is to come up for hearing on June 22. PTI
