According to a BusinessWeek Survey of the world's best IT companies, Infosys is placed 27th globally and Wipro 62nd on the list of top 100, which has LG Electronics at the No. 1 slot.
Infosys posted revenues of $1.062 billion (90th best returns), a growth rate of 41 per cent (24th), a return on equity of 28.3 per cent (14th) and a shareholder return of 90.6 per cent (25th). Its profits were placed at $270.3 million.
Wipro had recorded its revenues at $1.191 billion (86th), revenue growth at 20.4 per cent (56th), return on equity at 22.9 per cent (26th) and shareholder return at 130.9 per cent (9th). It had a profit of $210.8 million.
The IT 100 survey was based on the latest annual revenue figures of the companies. To compile the information technology 100, BusinessWeek began with financial data from Standard & Poor's. To qualify for the survey, companies had to have revenues of at least $300 million. Korean technology giant LG Electronics was ranked the best IT firm in the world, with revenues of $29.909 billion (12th) and a growth rate of 66 per cent (12th).
Going only by revenues, IBM of the U.S. was number one at $91.316 billion. However, IBM was ranked 10th overall. America Movil, Mexico's wireless player with revenues of $8.737 billion was ranked the second best IT company in the world. Taiwan's Quanta Computer, with revenues of $8.742 billion was the third.
Hon Hai Precision of Taiwan, with revenues of $10.899 billion was the fourth-best IT company. The only American company in the top five was Nextel at the fifth position, with revenues of $11.555 billion.
Chip giant Intel was ranked 13th, while Dell stood 6th on the list with revenues of $43.452 billion.
Microsoft, with $35.608 billion in revenues, has been placed in the 49th position on the list with a revenue growth rate of only 13.5 per cent. Hewlett-Packard too, with second-highest revenues (after IBM) at $76.828 billion, has been ranked 71st. HP had a revenue growth of 9.1 per cent.
