Ramachandraiah for Rajya Sabha again
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
JUNE 15.
C. Ramachandraiah, former MP, is being nominated by the TDP as its candidate for the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections.
His name was finalised at a four-hour long meeting of the TDP Polit Bureau presided over by the party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday evening. It is understood that the meeting also discussed the candidature of two other party leaders-- P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and M. V. Mysoora Reddy-- but finally the choice fell on Mr. Ramachandraiah. The formal announcement was made at a press conference by Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and three other Polit Bureau members. With a strength of 47 in the Assembly, the TDP nominee will sail through in the election since 42 votes are normally required for getting elected. Mr. Ramachandraiah had retired a few weeks ago as Rajya Sabha member on completion of his six-year term.
