BJP to rethink alliance with TDP
By Our Correspondent
CHITTOOR,
JUNE 15.
The BJP committed a mistake by forging an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in the recently held elections in the State, said P.V. Chalapathi Rao, vice-president of BJP's State unit.
Talking to mediapersons here last night after a meeting of party workers, he said that the party would "rethink" the alliance. The Congress came to power because people disliked the NDA and the other causes for the defeat would be analysed, he said.
The leaders would take steps to remove discontent in the party rank and file. Also, the image of BJP as a `casteist party' needed to be changed, he said. Referring to the issue of a separate Telangana, he said that the opinion of party leaders would be taken into account, but added that party workers were in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh. Final decision in this regard would be taken only after discussions at party forums, Mr. Rao said.
