NEW DELHI, JUNE 14. The Congress in the State today got a boost with six independent MLAs deciding to associate with the party, a move that would have an impact in the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha from the State. The MLAs, Narasimha Naik (Surpur), B.K. Sangmesh (Bhadravati), Rajashekhar Sindhur (Shiggaon), Vinay Kulkarni (Dharwad rural), H.R. Gaviappa (Hospet) and Vishwanath K. Mamani (Parasgad), had a meeting with the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, B. Janardhana Poojary, who accompanied the MLAs, said all of them had decided to "unconditionally'' support the Congress. Most of them had contested in the recent Assembly elections as Congress rebels. Mr. Naik contested on the ticket of Kannada Nadu, an outfit floated by former Bharatiya Janata Party MP, Vijay Sankeshwar.
