Plea for Balakrishna's custody rejected

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JUNE 15. The city police on Tuesday failed to get the custody of film actor N.Balakrishna in the sensational shoot-out at his residence in Jubilee Hills, after their plea was declined by the fifth Metropolitan Magistrate.

The Jubilee Hills police investigating the firing in which film producer B.Suresh and astrologer, Satyanarayana Chowdhary, were injured, had sought Mr. Balakrishna's custody.

The Magistrate, however, declined to send the actor to police custody in view of the opinions expressed by K.Subba Rao, Director, Nizam's Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) where Balakrishna has been put under medical observation.

In a bulletin issued later in the evening, Dr. Subba Rao said the film actor was advised physiotherapy with ultrasonography equipment by the orthopaedic team. "This should be done in the Department only as the equipment is not portable and this therapy should continue for another three weeks at least," the bulletin said.

Mr.Balakrishna complained of constipation for which medical consultation was sought, the bulletin said, adding that his Carotid Doppler and EMNG studies reported normal. The film actor was unable to bear weight and hence was lying down or sitting in a chair.
