BANGALORE, JUNE 15. A nursing seat racket was busted by the Whitefield police in Bangalore, who arrested three members of a gang of five on Sunday. Two special police teams have been constituted to probe the racket. The accused had reportedly taken Rs. 40,000 each from four students from Kerala and promised them seats in the city-based Vydehi Medical College. The students Memon Appachu, Suji Thomas, Ajay Satya, and Babita Baby went to the police when they became suspicious of the dealings. The names of those arrested were given as Vijayalakshmi of J.P. Nagar, Bangalore, Mohammad Sadiq, and Nagaraj. The main accused, Pradeep Kumar, and Parvez are at large. A special police team led by Whitefield police sub-inspector, Khalandar Khan, has left for Mysore in search of them. Those arrested were remanded to judicial custody for 15 days, the police said. The gang is said to have fabricated documents and made rubber stamps of the medical college. The police seized Rs. 90,000 in cash, a car, three demand drafts for Rs. 50,000 each, a fake seal of Vydehi Medical College, and four vouchers from those arrested.
