Olympic qualification tournament from June 23

NEW DELHI, JUNE 16. The National Olympic qualification archery tournament will be held at Meerut from June 23 to 27.

The Indian team (three men and three women) for Athens will be selected at the end of this tournament, the last of the eight National-ranking prize-money tournaments launched after India secured six Olympic berths at the World championships in New York last year.

The Union Minister of Sports, Sunil Dutt, will be the chief guest at the function where the Athens-bound team is to be announced.

Along with the senior tournament, the U.P. Archery Association is a holding junior selection tournament. The Indian team will be picked for the 8th World junior archery championship to be held in Lilleshall, London, from July 18 to 24. — Our Sports Reporter
