APPETA's appeal to CM

HYDERABAD, JUNE 16. The Andhra Pradesh Physical Education Teachers Association has appealed to the Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy to appoint a person from the Physical Education profession to the post of Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

In a statement released to the media here on Wednesday the association stated that since physical education was an essential part of the process of education of the children, this field should not be neglected as was being done now.

Many schools are functioning without the services of a PET and nearly 4000 posts of PETs need to be filled up.

Therefore a person with the physical education background, if appointed as Chairman of the SAAP would be in a position to develop sports from the grassroots level and bring more children into the field of sports, the association felt.
