Big birds, fast cars arrive
KOCHI,
JUNE 16.
The big birds are in town. The fast cars too. There was a buzz of excitement at the Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery, as the two giant Antonov aircraft, carrying nearly 70 cars for the Indian leg of the London-Sydney Marathon, arrived on Wednesday morning. The teams arrived later in the evening.
The Indian leg of the 15,000-km, month-long inter-continental automobile marathon that runs through seven countries will be flagged off from Nedumbassery on Friday morning.
The marathon will then proceed to Munnar, Coimbatore and Mysore. Nedumbassery, nearly 25 kms from Kochi, will also be the finishing point for the Indian tour on June 21.
The bandwagon will then proceed to Australia for the marathon's final leg. Our Sports Reporter
