THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 16. The special team probing the violent incidents during the KPCC executive committee meeting on June 2, arrested three persons from Thettichira colony in Vavarambalam near here in the early hours today. Those arrested were Dilip alias Anil, a resident of Andoorkonam; Binu, a resident of Pallippuram; and Biju alias Kunjumon, a resident of Vavarambalam. All the three accused are 27 years of age. Dilip and Biju have cases pending against them in Mangalapuram police station. The three were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
Alleged gangsters held
The Kazhakkuttom police have arrested two alleged kingpins of a gang involved in several cases of burglary and chain-snatching. Those arrested are Shaji alias Makru (26), a resident of Veyiloor village, Dilip alias Chandu (25), of Nellinad village. The duo were nabbed by a team led by the Circle Inspector, P. Raghu, from the Kazhakkuttom Junction at 7-30 p.m. on June 15. They are wanted in connection with several cases in Mangalapuram, Chirayinkeezhu and Attingal police stations, the police said.
Cases registered
The Cantonment Police have registered cases against the BJP district president, Velanchira Somasekharan, and 29 others in connection with the march taken out by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists to the Secretariat today to protest against the hike in price of petroleum products.
