Pricol wins
COIMBATORE,
JUNE 17.
Shyam, Ranjith and Hariharan came up with brilliant efforts to help Pricol Sports Club score a 3-1 win over LEC Sports Club in the Mahendra Pumps A division football league, organised by the Coimbatore District Football Association, at the Nehru Stadium here today.
Left-striker Shyam drew first blood in the 21st minute with a powerful right-footer from just outside the penalty box. Fourteen minutes later, right-extreme Ranjith increased the margin with a neat effort. He dribbled past two defenders before firing the ball into the net.
Just when the going looked good for Pricol, right-extreme Hariharan reduced the margin for LEC with a solo effort in the 32nd minute of the second session. Even before any further damage could be done, left wing-back Vincent converted a penalty in the 38th minute.
At Avanashi Government HSS grounds, Thiagi NGR and Avanashi Sports Club played to a 2-2 draw.
