No permission for U.S. trip: BCCI
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
JUNE 17.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that none of the Indian players would be given permission to take part in the USA's pro-cricket league.
Disclosing this, a BCCI release issued by its secretary, S.K. Nair, said: "The BCCI has been receiving queries with regard to the participation of some Indian cricketers like Vinod Kambli, Rohan Gavaskar, Dinesh Mongia, Rahul Sanghvi, Sarandeep Singh, Amit Mishra, Ajay Ratra, Amit Bhandari and others in an event called American pro-cricket.
"The International Cricket Council (ICC) has communicated to all its members, including the BCCI, that it had not approved the event and that the event did not have the support of the United States of America Cricket Association either."
Mr. Nair said the ICC had recommended to its members that countries should therefore not release any players for the tournament. "In view of this, the BCCI too has advised all players that permission would not be granted to participate in the event, since it did not have the ICC approval," he added. Our Special Correspondent
