BANGALORE, JUNE 17. The State Government has left out eight medical and eight dental colleges from its seat matrices released here on Thursday, as they are yet to get the approval of the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India. The medical colleges that do not figure in the matrix are: K.V.G. Medical College, Sullia; S. Nijalingappa Medical College, Bagalkot; Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore; M.V.J. Medical College and Research Hospital, Channasandra; Navodaya Medical College, Raichur; Khaja Banda Nawaz Institute of Medical Sciences, Gulbarga; A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore, and Basaveswara Medical College and Hospital, Chitradurga. However, four medical colleges, which were recently asked by the Medical Council of India not to conduct undergraduate admissions till they improved their infrastructure, have been reportedly given the green signal to admit students this year. All the colleges figure in the seat matrix although the student intake in some of them have been reduced, the CET officials said. Among the dental colleges that are not part of the seat matrix are: Dr. Shyamala Reddy Dental College, Bangalore; Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital; Raja Rajeshwari Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore; Sri. Hasanamba Dental College and Hospital, Hassan; S.B. Patil Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Bidar and K.G.F. College of Dental Sciences, KGF. When contacted, the CET Special officer, D.N. Nayak, said if these colleges got approval, the additional seats would be offered to students at the Casual Vacancy Round of the seat selection process.
Engineering seat matrix
The State Government is likely to release the engineering seat matrix in the next two days. The CET Cell has reportedly asked the Government to release the matrix for Special Categories at the earliest as the counselling process for the categories are scheduled to begin on June 24.
