KOLLAM, JUNE 18. The Kerala Hotel Vyavasai Association president, B. M. Hilal, today said a raise in the price of food items was inevitable as the cost of cooking gas gone up. He said the electricity tariff at Rs. 11 per unit remained the highest among the States. More than 30 per cent of the turnover was required to meet the expenses for LPG and electricity. Even the Milma had raised the price of milk twice in the last three years, he said. He demanded the Government to reduce the electricity tariff for the hotels and sanction kerosene under concession rates to be used as fuel. The industry in the district was not getting any benefit from tourism too.
