Hantuchova in final

EASTBOURNE, JUNE 18. Daniela Hantuchova rallied to upset top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Friday to reach the final of the Eastbourne grass-court tournament.

Johansson dethrones Rusedski

Former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson beat titleholder Greg Rusedski 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) to reach the semifinals of the Nottingham Open grass-court tournament on Thursday.

Top-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand, meanwhile, advanced by defeating Morocco's Hicham Arazi, seeded seventh, 6-3, 6-4. Paradorn next faces Sweden's Robin Soderling, who downed Flavio Saretta 6-3, 6-4.

Rusedski, who received a wild card at Wimbledon, was upbeat about his quarterfinal performance, a day after he won back-to-back matches for the first time in a year.

"I think I played better than my first two matches so that's the positive, and the other positive is I get a little bit more time to prepare for Wimbledon," the British player said.

Johansson said that entering Nottingham as a qualifier helped his game. "It was good to come here early and practice with the British players," the 29-year-old Swede said.

He won the Australian Open in 2002 but missed the whole of last season after undergoing knee surgery.

"I still have a lot to work on," Johansson said.
