NHPC's huge investment plans
NEW DELHI: Reporting a 22 per cent jump in net profit to Rs. 621.38 crores in 2003-04, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) on Friday made public its massive Rs. 25,000 crore investment plan in the next three years in order to realise the target of adding 4,357 MW in the Tenth Plan. Addressing the annual press meet to release the corporation's financial results, Yogendra Prasad, CMD of NHPC, said they had already invested about Rs. 7,000 crores out of the total Plan allocation of over Rs. 32,000 crores, generating additional power of 1,400 MW. Three more projects totalling 1,170 MW capacity would be commissioned in the current financial year. For capacity expansion during the Tenth Plan and required funds, NHPC would be getting budgetary support of Rs.14,200 crores of which about Rs. 4,000 crores had already been pumped in, he said.
