'Brokers should be `feeding points' for insurance'
COIMBATORE: Only when insurance brokers act as `feeding points' or `franchise holder' of insurance companies would the message about health insurance products reach the million in the unorganised sector, said N. Rangachary, former chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India.
Speaking at the launch of Link-K family medical plan policy here recently, he said 89 per cent of the population came under unorganised sector including entrepreneurs, whose mediclaim needs had to be addressed on an individual basis. He said the e-governance introduced by ITC in Madhya Pradesh had helped farmers utilise agriculture income in production. "When people in this village came forward to work as insurance agents, we agreed and they did a good and valuable coverage," he added. When exposed to marketing, it yielded best results.
