CHENNAI, JUNE 18. The DMK treasurer, Arcot.N.Veerasamy, yesterday alleged that it was out of fear that the AIADMK Government's role in the deletion of names of voters will be exposed, that its party MPs met the Chief Election Commissioner and demanded an enquiry. This was an attempt to shift the onus of responsibility on the Government employees. If one were to accept the AIADMK argument (that employees had schemed to remove names from the rolls), then, would the employees delete the names of members of their own families, he asked? Mr.Veerasamy said that after taking into account the large-scale mistakes in the electoral rolls in Chennai, the Collector was transferred. But the same person was posted back immediately after elections. He contended that it was an example of a "planned" wrongdoing.
