THRISSUR, JUNE 18. The Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation will join the indefinite cinema bandh slated to begin from June 25, demanding steps from the State Government for saving the crisis-ridden film industry. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Federation general secretary, Ramadas Cheloor, said that the film industry had been forced to resort to such an extreme step since the Government had been turning a blind eye to the plea of the industry leaders. The immediate demands of the industry include slashing of entertainment tax from the present rate of 48 percent, allotting power to the theatres at the tariff fixed for small-scale industries and curbing the menace of pirated CDs.
