Applications for awards

TIRUCHI, JUNE 17 . The district administration has invited applications for the national youth awards 2004 for outstanding social work.

Youths, in the age group of 15 to 34, and voluntary organisations, who have done exemplary social service or contributed significantly for national development, between April 1 2003 and March 31, 2004, are eligible to apply for the awards. While the individual national awards would carry a medal and Rs.20,000 in cash, the award for voluntary organisations would carry a cash reward of Rs.1 lakh besides the medal.

Previous award winners under the respective categories are not eligible for the award. State and central government employees and other government agencies are not eligible to apply for the award. Voluntary organisations should be a registered service society and a non-profit organisation.

Applications, with three copies, can be forwarded to the District Sports Officer, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, Anna Stadium, Tiruchi - 620 023, on or before June 30, according to a release from the District Sports Officer.
