Temperature

TIRUCHI, JUNE 18. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36.3 degree Celsius and a minimum of 27.7 degree Celsius.

Arrested

Arokiyam of Pillaimar Street, was arrested by the Gandhi Market police for pocket-picking today. Police sources said the accused after snatching Rs. 350 from the complainant, Murugesan, had threatened to attack the latter when he tried to nab him. The accused was remanded to custody.

Policemen posted

A posse of policemen have been posted at Valayur village where a group of people reportedly offered resistance to Revenue authorities when they tried to demolish a temporary platform erected for the purpose of conducting temple festivities.

Mettur level

Water level at the Mettur reservoir stood at 40.10 feet today. The inflow was 1242 cusecs and the discharge was 50 cusecs.
